Interview
5/27/'08
Ian
says:
For
your about section, I
interview u now.
What
inspired you to start a
website?
Kyle
says:
Let’s
see...
I
started out with a
different website before this one, superturdman.com.
That didn't turn out so well and I
discontinued it. Soon
after, I realized
that having a website was cool and a good way to get known, so I
decided to
make this one.
Ian
says:
Ahh..
I member Super Turd Man...
That
brings me to my next
question; will you be hosting Super Turd Man on your workshopp?
Kyle
says:
I
might have to. People
keep riding me to add him, so I guess
I will. I was going
to anyway, but I am
still wondering how to do it without scaring viewers away.
Ian
says:
Lol,
well, how do you put
Super Turd Man (a hand drawn comic) on the internet WITHOUT a scanner?
Kyle
says:
Well,
I was thinking about
maybe creating flash animations or pixeling them up.
Ian
says:
What
inspired you to become a
pixel artist any way? And how do you have such skill?
Kyle
says:
Well,
I have always enjoyed
drawing, and video games are one of my hobbies, so I decided to combine
the
two. When I started
making games, I
decided I had to become a good spriter which of course required pixel
art
skills. I just kept
working at it and
eventually got to where I am now.
I
still have a ways to go, but I'm trying
Ian
says:
So
Speaking of games will we
see any on the site.
Kyle
says:
Possibly,
but don't expect
any flash games. Since
the flash
programming programs (lol) cost a lot, I don't think I'll do much of
that.
Ian
says:
What
are some types of games
we can expect?\
Kyle
says:
Well,
I don't work too well
with 3D, so you could expect some 2D platformers, shooters, and stuff
like
that.
Ian
says:
Well
On the subject of games
can we expect leaderboards? That would keep score freaks coming back
like flies
to honey.
Kyle
says:
Well,
it depends on what type
of game I make. If
it fits the game, I
probably will.
Ian
says:
So,
what is your favorite
game that you worked on?
Kyle
says:
I
haven't really finished one
100%. I keep
getting close to completing
games, but I seem to get stuck in the programming stage and end up
forgetting
the projects. The
only game I've mostly
completed was a game called "Flea Circus".
Ian
says:
Could
you give us a quick synopsis
of "Flea Circus"?
Kyle
says:
Of
course. Earlier in
my tech art, I made simple
animations and one of them was called Flea Circus and was a bunch of
tiny dots
pulling off trick such as tightrope, the human ( or in this case, flea)
cannonball, car jumps, and some other stuff like that.
I decided that it would make a fun game so I
did just that. Flea
Circus, my first
real game and was a basic sidescroller.
Like the animation, you played as a little dot that
ran around a circus
tent ( more like a maze though ).
It
didn't have too many stunts like in the animation, but you would have
to jump
off trampolines and get shot around by cannons.
The boss fight was a giant really angry red flea
that bellowed at you
and... tried to fall on you while you attempted a downward vertical
escape. I made all
of the sound effects myself, but
the music was a MIDI
montage of DDR songs. The
voice acting for the boss flea was fun, humorous, and now that I think
of it...
pretty bad. Unfortunately
you will not
be able to play it because it got lost in the many computer charades
I've gone
through.
Ian
says:
Well
that’s a shame that we can’t
play. :’(
My
next question is; will you
be accepting Fan Made comics into your ranks?
Kyle
says:
Well,
I might, but I would
accept Ideas more openly than actual arts.
Ian
says:
But
if you did accept arts,
what rules do you think you would have?
Kyle
says:
No
Jpeg of course (low
quality is evil!)
I
wouldn't have too many
rules,
Mainly
just keep it clean
(ish)
Ian
says:
Ish,
I like that.
Kyle
says:
lol
me 2
Ian
says:
When
do you think we can expect
the new site layout to be finished?
Kyle
says:
I
don't know exactly, but
almost for sure over summer vacation, hopefully in the beginning of it.
Ian
says:
What
about Merch?
Kyle
says:
Merch? It would be cool to see
people walking around
with my logo and works on their clothing and have it in their bedrooms
and
whatnot, but I would like to know if people would actually buy the
stuff.
Kyle
says:
Lol
that last part sounded
like a drug dealer.
Ian
says:
Lol,
So what Kind of Merch
can we expect if you chose to sell it?
Kyle
says:
Like
I said, clothing, and
maybe (comic) books. Also
I was thinking
about plushies but I sew like crap...
Ian
says:
Well
I would like a poster of
Puchi Man In my room, How bout posters?
Kyle
says:
It's
a possibility, but I
only have a freakin’ 8.5x12 printer!
Ian
says:
Lol,
well, I'm spent, lets
put this on the site.
Kyle
says:
Sure.
